Drawings of Gnawing on the Bones – 50 Years Later.
National drawing day 2025.
Line drawings with archival pens, pigment markers and chrome pens on various types of paper. As a gesture to the processes of archiving, each time I end one line and begin another I place a tally mark in the corner of the page. I see the one line drawing as filmic, like Super 8 – silent and with fresh cuts, one shot to the next, no transitions. I also see this process of drawing an event, like keeping memory – how fragmented and fractured it is.
A durational performance by artist Amanda Coogan documented through drawing, upon the request of the artist.
The performance was programmed for the exhibition Beuys 50 Years Later: Action, Society, Performance and Change, and curated by Anna Liesching at the Ulster Museum, Belfast.
